As part of a program of the City of Santa Cruz and the California
Resources Agency, and in celebration of the 85th Anniversary of
the Wharf, we offer a nature tour along the longest public Wharf
on the west coast.
Along with local history and wharf facts, this tour curriculum
examines the natural resources of the central coast protected with
the establishment of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
Last and nearest full moon
of the century over the Wharf.

Throughout historic periods of Native American Ohlones, to immigrant
Spanish, Chinese, Italian, Anglo, and today's cosmopolitan residents
and visitors, Santa Cruz life has always been shaped by Monterey Bay
and the Pacific.
This has been true from the early days of subsistence fishing
to export shipping, to commercial and sports fishing, to recreation
and research today.
This tour is structured around our exhibit kiosks, panel displays,
outdoor aquariums and special vistas. The Wharf's special shops
and restaurants are treated in other parts of our website. This
is about the sea, the shore and our Marine Sanctuary.
Come take a stroll with us as we explore the Santa Cruz Wharf
and the life beneath it.
